On days like this,
when rain
falls
drips
or thunders down
bending calla lily and tulip bells
to the ground
Or some days
when fog
to the ground
Or some days
when fog
meander
or creep
between jasmine stars and lavender cones
You wish for the sun
(An orb on fire,
bright as bougainvillea,
prismatic as anthurium
in bloom)
But me,
I celebrate the plump sound of rain on banana leaves
Revel in muffled whispers of mist over fronds,
knowing that just beyond these clouds
you swing under willows,
your laughter brighter
than the sun in perihelion.
